New Track Trying to get Started !A new track is trying to get started in Forestville, NY in the next couple weeks. Pete Smith has been working for months behind the scenes trying to get everything in order to open a new track on his property about 45 minutes south of Buffalo (and 15 minutes from my house  ). I mention it now, (I have known about this since winter) because it is now that we need to help. Monday July 7th is the Sheridan Zoning Board meeting that will determine the fate of the project. I spoke with Pete this week and he hopes anyone in our general area will come to the meeting that night to voice their support of the track being built. The meeting will be held at 7:00 PM at the Sheridan Town Hall on Route 20, about 5 miles east of Fredonia. Pete hopes that enough support will be shown that the town will grant their approval so he can get things going and have the track built and open for practice this summer. Eventually, Pete and his family plan to join D-4 and host races for us, but they need to get it open and start having practice this year in order to get the bugs out so they can join us for 09. If you cannot attend the meeting, please consider writing a letter of support stating that you would like to utilize the track for practice and visit our area. Letters can be sent to me and then I will bring them to the meeting as part of the support package for the project. Pete is very serious about this and he has the land and finances to get it done. All riders that can help the cause will be greatly appreciated.
